I’m a big fan of Hygge, the cozy Swedish way of warming your heart and home in winter. However, Hygge requires you to own (and store, and organize) quite a lot of extra things: Fuzzy blankets, candles, slippers, socks, books, etc.
So I’m a bit intrigued by Lagom, the new minimalism trend that’s getting a lot of attention here in the US.
Lagom means “Just the right amount,” which sounds like it could apply to many other areas of our lives, not just our home decor style!
Something Swedish describes Lagom as “enough to go around.”
Lagom is a Swedish Twist on Minimalism, explains HuffingtonPost.
Over in Australia, The Weekly Review describes Lagom as something Goldilocks would strive for: Just right!
I’m looking around my home, wondering if I have too much decor, too many books, clutter on my countertops or “just the right amount.” What will happen if I peek into my closet while thinking of Lagom philosophy at the same time?
For more info on living the Lagom way, you can pick up Linnea Dunne’s new book, coming out in October: Lagom – the Swedish Art of Balanced Living.
If you are really into decor and design, you might also enjoy browsing a copy of The Lagom Life, which comes out in late October.
