Autumn Home Organizing Tips for Fall 2023

  1. Deep clean your living room. It will get a lot of extra use in the holiday season ahead.
  2. Swap your closet out for autumn. Put away summer clothing and shoes, and bring out cold weather clothing.
  3. Do the same for your coat closet. Declutter and make room for guests’ coats during your holiday gatherings.
  4. Freshen up your outdoor space. Sweep and tidy front porch/patio and entry. Tidy your deck and put away your barbecue for the season. If you host outdoor bonfires, get your fire pit area ready.
  5. Clean the exterior of your home. Power wash, wash windows, tidy porches.
  6. Clear out your storage areas. Make room for holiday shopping!
  7. Clean out your garage. Can you park your garage indoors on snowy days?
  8. Schedule a junk haul removal company, as applicable.
  9. Deep clean kitchen to get it ready for holiday baking, cocktail parties and hosting.
  10. Freshen and declutter your guest room. Make it cozy for overnight guests.
  11. Check smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors; swap batteries.
  12. Flip mattresses and vacuum them. Inspect bedding for soil, damage, wear and tear.
  13. Deep clean bathrooms and inspect linens for wear and tear. Need to replace any with fresh new ones?

Angie’s Organizing Solutions

November Is Here! Let’s Get Organized!

November is here, bringing lots of seasonal changes to our homes and our lifestyles. It’s a busy time, with the holidays just around the corner. You’re getting ready for houseguests, dinner parties, celebrations, Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Meanwhile, you still work, care for children and perhaps aging parents, and want time to indulge in autumn activities yourself (hiking? leaf peeping? Dining out? Pickleball?) It can be hard to find time to get everything done.

Let me take some of your home organizing chores and burdens away. This time of year, I specialize in helping you organize your kitchen and pantry, declutter and reset home offices and guest rooms for your upcoming houseguests, put up holiday and Christmas decorations and lights, and make room in your garage for parking your car in the winter and storing ski equipment.

I serve the cities around Seattle’s Eastside, including Bellevue, Kenmore, Kirkland, Redmond, Sammamish, and Woodinville.

I have weekday and weekend dates still available in November for your home organization tasks.

Let’s Get Ready for Thanksgiving and Your Holiday Guests!

The holidays are nearly here! If you are hosting a cocktail party, dinner party, overnight guests and/or Thanksgiving dinner, it’s time to get your home ready. Especially your kitchen!

Let me help you get your home ready for the busy holiday season. I can help take some to-do items off your list, organize your home and help set up systems for keeping it that way, and provide assistance with minor handy tasks such as hanging paintings or putting up curtain rods.

Some of the jobs clients have hired me for in autumn include:

Autumn closet organizing, including kids closets, master bedroom and coat closet

Entryway organization – Shoes, coats, gloves, keys

Kitchen organization – Prepare for holiday feasts, organize, declutter, maximize counter space

Pantry organization – Declutter, sort and organize foods, and create a shopping list and inventory system

Dining room – Declutter, organize curio cabinets and buffets, organize dishes, organize table linens, bring out holiday dishes

Garage – Make room to park cars indoors for winter. Sort and organize autumn or winter “toys” such as kayaks, SUPs, sleds, ski equipment, snow shovels

Guest bedroom – Declutter guest bedroom and closet to make a cozy, clean space for overnight houseguests.

Holiday decorating – I can help you put up Thanksgiving or Christmas decorations and lights, and come up with storage solutions for when we take them down after the holidays.

Winter Organizing Projects for 2020

Here in Seattle, we’ve been blessed with a couple of sunny days where it wasn’t raining! I’m grateful, but I know Winter isn’t quite over yet. Spring is still a few weeks away; and that means it’s not quite time yet for Spring Cleaning.

However, you might want to embark on some home and office organization projects that you can accomplish this winter. Checking a few things off your list will make Spring Cleaning so much easier when April rolls around!

It’s too cold to organize our garages, attics or basements comfortably. Instead, we can focus on projects inside our homes and offices. We can stay warm and cozy while sorting, organizing, cleaning and tidying.

Breaking big tasks into smaller chunks makes organizing your home less intimidating. I like to focus on just one area or project at a time, and set attainable goals.

Here are some ideas for organizing projects that take just a few hours:

Kitchen organization – Get your fridge and pantry sorted out; counters cleared; unused appliances donated; drawers and cupboards cleaned and reset.

Closet organization – Get your wardrobe ready for Spring; clean out your guest bedroom closet so guests can hang their clothing when they visit; sort and donate clothing your children have outgrown.

Linen closet organization – Sort sheets, pillows, quilts, blankets, towels, and table linens.

Coat closet, entryway, mudroom and laundry room organization – Put away unused coats and shoes, make laundry supplies more accessible, get rid of laundry supplies you aren’t using; clear clutter from the entryway to your home.

Master bedroom revitalization project – Turn your master bedroom into a relaxing, comforting sanctuary, free of clutter and distractions.

Kids rooms – With your child’s help, reorganize their bedroom over a Saturday or Sunday afternoon

Another project that’s ideal for wintertime is organizing your home office. Come up with a system for keeping your papers and files organized, desk decluttered, computer equipment situated, and your office space more usable.

If you are feeling overwhelmed or need a little help getting your home or office organized,  you can always contact me to set up an appointment to help you.
