November Is Here! Let’s Get Organized!

November is here, bringing lots of seasonal changes to our homes and our lifestyles. It’s a busy time, with the holidays just around the corner. You’re getting ready for houseguests, dinner parties, celebrations, Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Meanwhile, you still work, care for children and perhaps aging parents, and want time to indulge in autumn activities yourself (hiking? leaf peeping? Dining out? Pickleball?) It can be hard to find time to get everything done.

Let me take some of your home organizing chores and burdens away. This time of year, I specialize in helping you organize your kitchen and pantry, declutter and reset home offices and guest rooms for your upcoming houseguests, put up holiday and Christmas decorations and lights, and make room in your garage for parking your car in the winter and storing ski equipment.

I serve the cities around Seattle’s Eastside, including Bellevue, Kenmore, Kirkland, Redmond, Sammamish, and Woodinville.

I have weekday and weekend dates still available in November for your home organization tasks.

Let’s Get Ready for Thanksgiving and Your Holiday Guests!

The holidays are nearly here! If you are hosting a cocktail party, dinner party, overnight guests and/or Thanksgiving dinner, it’s time to get your home ready. Especially your kitchen!

Let me help you get your home ready for the busy holiday season. I can help take some to-do items off your list, organize your home and help set up systems for keeping it that way, and provide assistance with minor handy tasks such as hanging paintings or putting up curtain rods.

Some of the jobs clients have hired me for in autumn include:

Autumn closet organizing, including kids closets, master bedroom and coat closet

Entryway organization – Shoes, coats, gloves, keys

Kitchen organization – Prepare for holiday feasts, organize, declutter, maximize counter space

Pantry organization – Declutter, sort and organize foods, and create a shopping list and inventory system

Dining room – Declutter, organize curio cabinets and buffets, organize dishes, organize table linens, bring out holiday dishes

Garage – Make room to park cars indoors for winter. Sort and organize autumn or winter “toys” such as kayaks, SUPs, sleds, ski equipment, snow shovels

Guest bedroom – Declutter guest bedroom and closet to make a cozy, clean space for overnight houseguests.

Holiday decorating – I can help you put up Thanksgiving or Christmas decorations and lights, and come up with storage solutions for when we take them down after the holidays.

Preparing Your Kitchen for Fall and the Autumn Holidays

Though we’ve enjoyed some warm sunny weather this week here in the Seattle area, autumn is approaching soon! Time to get our kitchens ready for the busy fall baking, cooking and holiday season. Especially for those of you who cook, bake and entertain frequently!

Here are some of my favorite tips for getting our kitchens ready for autumn:

Cooking Light recommends a fall shopping list; the perfect autumn fridge contents; and then presents several fall recipes.

Food52 suggests 11 steps to take to prepare your kitchen for autumn. (I think the most important one is the first – sort through your pantry and get rid of expired items!)

Speaking of the pantry, here’s Real Simple’s article called “Purge your Pantry.”

There are also some helpful kitchen preparation tips at The Culinary Exchange.

Lovely Living has a four post series on preparing your kitchen for Fall: Part 1 – Overall, Part 2 – Refrigerator and Cupboards; Part 3 – Pantry, and Part 4 – Kitchen Appliances.

Lastly, 10 Steps to an Organized Kitchen isn’t specific to autumn, but are good ideas to keep in mind.
